The Policy Shop

Helping member-based organisations navigate complexity, advocate with confidence and shape the policies that matter most to their members

Our purpose

As governments across Australia continue to pursue ambitious reforms, member-based organisations are under increasing pressure to deliver high-impact policy, advocacy and engagement outcomes for members. The Policy Shop provides tools, support and advice to meet this challenge with solutions to uplift capacity in the short-term and build capability over time.

Industry associations, business chambers and professional membership bodies play a vital role in Australia’s political system.

Operating at the intersection between business and government, they are well placed to help members navigate a dynamic policy landscape, represent the collective interests of members, and advocate on their behalf with policymakers.

However, these organisations are under constant pressure to deliver high-impact policy, advocacy and engagement outcomes for members, as governments across Australia pursue ambitious reforms.

The Policy Shop provides cost-effective solutions to meet this challenge, with three flexible service models to meet the different needs of different organisations:

  • Collaborator: support, advice and content to address capacity gaps.
  • Coach: mentoring, training and resources to build capability.
  • Contractor: fixed-term strategic and operational leadership.

We help member-based organisations define, design and deliver high-impact policy, advocacy and engagement outcomes, with end-to-end support or discrete activities and deliverables.

Our differentiated approach empowers industry associations, business chambers and professional membership bodies to:

  • build in-house capability and their own external relationships,
  • amplify their own voice, and
  • navigate competing priorities to speak on behalf of all members.

While we have a solid understanding of the policy challenges impacting the Australian business community, our approach is issue-agnostic.

Instead, we focus on providing the tools, support and advice needed to navigate the policy landscape with confidence.
